Bananas Foster French Toast

Total preparation time: 30 minutes

Yields: 4 servings

For the French Toast:

4 large eggs

2 cups half-and-half

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup butter

1 loaf of Nature’s Own Butterbread*

For the Bananas Foster Sauce:

1/2 cup butter

1 1/2 cups light brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

3 bananas, sliced lengthwise and cut into quarters

To prepare the French toast: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth.

Heat a nonstick griddle or skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated (repeat this step for each slice). Place the bread on the griddle and cook until golden brown on both sides.

To create the Bananas Foster sauce: In a saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar; melt them together, then sprinkle in the cinnamon. Once the mixture has turned into a caramel, add the banana slices.

Keep spooning the sauce over the bananas as they cook.

Serve the French toast on plates, topping each stack with the caramelized bananas and sauce.

NOTE:

*This recipe for Bananas Foster French Toast features Butterbread from Nature’s Own, a brand that has teamed up with Make-A-Wish to contribute $500,000 to support wish children through 2026.

Since its inception in 1980, this global nonprofit organization has granted over 375,000 wishes in the U.S. for children facing critical health challenges, providing them with essential strength and hope in their battles against illness. The wishes granted often create lasting memories, offering families a sense of normalcy that can resonate throughout entire communities.

In celebration of this partnership, the Slice of Hope Campaign was introduced, featuring in-store displays alongside a digital “Well Wish Wall” where customers can share messages of support for children to read.

“We are truly honored to partner with Make-A-Wish on this meaningful two-year journey, committing to help grant life-changing wishes. Together, we hope to continue to inspire and spread goodness, one wish at a time.”

Krystle Farlow, senior director of brand management, Nature’s Own
