What I like & dislike about the Basel Theme
View Demo
Basel is a popular WordPress eCommerce theme offered in the ThemeForest marketplace, with an excellent user rating of 4.95! The theme is meant to be minimalist, but it features a lot of elements and customization styles. The theme comes with 34 pre-made demo layouts, that you can easily import in seconds. Now let’s head to the details…

Getting Started & Importing Demo Content
The theme has its own “Dummy Content” menu in the setting panel of WordPress, making the process of importing the demo data very easy.
You will have the preferred demo look in seconds, then you can start to explore and change things to match your own taste. That’s something I suggest to save time and get things going fast.
The process is made of two steps – Basic import and Demo versions import.
Demo import is the required minimum to see how the theme looks like and move on to the specific layout you want.
On the next step Demo Versions import, you can choose the desired demo from the dropdown. For our demo test, I chose the Organic Demo.
Basel theme really does a great job with the demo import and you get everything (except the original images) as in the demo on ThemeForest.
Theme’s Shortcodes
As mentioned above the theme uses Visual Composer page builder and it comes with plenty of its own design elements.
Single Product Page
As for the most important part of any eCommerce theme – the single products page, the page where all your revenue will come from, Basel theme offers some extended options to the basic WooCommerce view.
You can make unique product pages with built-in product settings. See the list below:
You can get a feel of all the different layouts and unique pages that you can make from here.
Another cool thing I enjoy in Basel is the 360° product view.
Please note: To get this work done satisfyingly, you will need pictures of your product from plenty of angles.
A good-looking 360 view requires around 18 photos of your product, shot in different angles.
Category Pages
For the category pages, you also get a wide variety of options to choose from. You can set products in grid view, and chose different hover and button options. The quick shop is working well, but nothing extraordinary here.
A major con is the absence of Ajax Add to Cart or other dynamic styles of adding the product to your cart.
