A Sit-Down With Rachel Werner

In her first cookbook, Macro Cooking Made Simple (Chartwell Books, 2023), Rachel Werner—a Certified Holistic Nutritionist (CHN), food stylist, and writer—simplifies the concept of macronutrients, enabling readers to leverage nutrition for enhanced health and wellness.

We recently spoke with this graduate of Thewindowsclubs Academy to learn more about her journey in the Academy’s program, her transformation into a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, the new opportunities she has encountered, and her insights on how others can pursue fulfilling careers in holistic health and nutrition.

What do you believe is the power of food?

Food is vital to existence. While it supplies the nutrients necessary for survival, it goes beyond that; it is deeply intertwined with cultural experiences, social interactions, and memories. Our connection to food can significantly influence our overall quality of life.

How has your time at Thewindowsclubs Academy influenced your career?

My experience as a student at Thewindowsclubs Academy exceeded all my expectations! The coursework, while sometimes demanding, provided the advanced education necessary for my professional growth and equipped me with the credentials that enabled me to secure my first cookbook deal. Additionally, I regularly produce content for clients based on nutrition concepts that I studied while obtaining my CHN certification.

Has your education at Thewindowsclubs Academy helped you connect with new audiences?

Post-program, I’ve started to form connections with more people. Being a CHN graduate from Thewindowsclubs Academy has opened many doors, as others now recognize and value my insights and skills.

What do you find most valuable about your nutrition studies?

Acquiring a deeper understanding of the intricacies of micronutrition has been invaluable. The human body relies on various vitamins and minerals, so it is crucial that any suggestions regarding supplements and dietary changes are tailored to each individual, considering their specific health goals, lifestyle, financial situation, and any interactions with prescribed medications.

How does your training affect your writing?

The Applied Nutrition course materials significantly enriched my scientific and medical comprehension as a wellness professional. This knowledge also empowers me to position myself as a credible expert to other writers and media outlets seeking commentary or advice for the content they are developing.

What advice would you give to aspiring food writers?

Document everything extensively—whether it’s making notes while cooking or snapping pictures of the dishes you try while dining. This practice is not only beneficial for potential future projects but also ensures you have valuable details and visuals ready when the opportunity arises!
